Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA JR)-

is a two wheel multi-functional Loaded Wheel Tester (LWT) used for evaluating permanent deformation (rutting), fatigue cracking and moisture susceptibility of both hot and cold asphalt mixes.  The APA Jr. meets all provisions for AASHTO T324-14 Hamburg Wheel Tracking Test and AASHTO T340-10 APA Jr. Rut Test. The APA Jr. has an on-board frequency drive that allows a user to test mixes at multiple speeds and multiple rates of loading and a "High Pressure Feature" that allows a user to perform rut testing at high contact pressures for mixes that are used on airport runways/taxiways. The APA Jr. can also be outfitted with a Chiller that will allow a user to perform Low Temperature Fatigue Testing on Beam Specimens and Low Temperature Studded Wheel Testing on Cylindrical Specimens . The APA Jr. can also be outfitted to Perform Microsurfacing/Slurry Seal Testing. Solid rubber wheel and pneumatic wheels can be used with the APA Jr. loaded wheel tester that is used to evaluate both cold and hotmix asphalt in a dry or submerged in water condition.

Warm Mix Asphalt Laboratory Foaming System-
The Foamer is designed and manufactured to provide highly accurate and repeatable foamed asphalt samples that are used for Warm Mix Asphalt Designs in the laboratory. The Foamer can also be used for Cold Mix Designs and can be used as an Asphalt Dispenser.  The Foamer is rugged and can easily be used in tandem with PTIs single and double pugmill mixer.  Fully Automated PLC Control System, Proportional Flow rates, Easy Cleanup and much more.

Asphalt Vibratory Compactor (AVC) -

The AVC is used to compact hot mix asphalt into cylindrical and beam test specimens. The AVC compacts asphalt at the same amplitude, same frequency, and same relative weight that is experienced with a vibratory roller on the roadway. The AVC controls allow a user to compact specimens at multiple frequencies, amplitudes, and downward pressures. The Beam specimens are used for fatigue testing in the APA/APA Jr. The AVC is also capable of compacting beam specimens for the 4-point bending beam fatigue test. Additional geometric asphalt specimens can be compacted with the AVC.

Asphalt Vibratory Compactor Enclosure-

Utilized to reduce sound produced from AVC and provide a safety enclosure for the AVC during compaction process.

Single Pugmill Mixer-

Combines aggregate and liquid asphalt together utilizing stainless steel augers in a heated chamber. Chamber is capable of mixing up to 45lbs. Total coating of all aggregates is achieved in approximately 1 minute. The chamber has a pneumatic gate (located at the bottom of the chamber) that allows a user to discharge finished mix into a receiver pan. A frequency drive allows a user to mix at multiple speeds. The Pugmill Mixer can also be used for mixing soils.

Double Pugmill Mixer-

Combines aggregate and liquid asphalt together utilizing stainless steel augers in two heated chambers. Each Chambers are capable of mixing up to 45lbs. Total coating of all aggregates is achieved in approximately 1 minute. The chambers have a pneumatic gate (located at the bottom of the chambesr) that allows a user to discharge finished mix into a receiver pan. A frequency drive allows a user to mix at multiple speeds. The Pugmill Mixer can also be used for mixing soils.

Automatic Belt Sampler-(ABS)

The ABS is utilized to sweep a representative sample of aggregate off a moving conveyor belt and deposit it into a container. The PTI Auto-Belt Sampler (ABS) is an improvement on the traditional "stopped-belt" method of sampling, which involves the stopping of a loaded conveyor belt and removing a full cross-sectional sample from the flow.

Laboratory Automatic Gradation Unit-

is a particle size analyzer that conducts a complete sieve analysis automatically and transmits the accumulated data to a computer, where the data is saved in an Excel spread sheet for further manipulation and analysis.  It is also used to separate materials by size into individual containers.

Field Gradation Unit-(AGU)
The Field AGU is used to Automatically run gradations on aggregate and related materials at aggregate or asphalt plants. The Field AGU receives a sample from the Belt Sampler, shakes the sample, grades the sample, and provides a user with a gradation report (Percent Passing, Percent Cumulative, Percent Retained, and Weight of all Sieves). Users can utilize gradation data to make changes on the close side setting of their crusher and produce their aggregates closer to specification. A Sample can be shaken and a report generated in approximately 10 minutes.

Remote Truck Sampling Device-(RTSD)
The RTSD safely captures a representative repeatable sample of hot mix asphalt from a haul vehicle and deposits the sample into a specimen container. Specimen container is transported to ground level utilizing an elevator.Typical sampling time is 1 to 2 minutes.

Mobile Testing Laboratories

The Mobile Labs can be used for Superpave Design/QC/QA Testing, Soils testing, and Concrete testing. The Lab are available in 3 basic sizes 65' x 10', 50' x 10', and 35' x 10'.  Additional sizes are available upon request.

The Labs can be equipped with all required testing equipment. They will be delivered, setup and ready to go.

Skid Mounted Testing Laboratory-

The Skid-Mounted Testing Laboratory Design and QC/QA Laboratory can be used to test Asphalt mixes, Portland Cement Concrete, quarry aggregates, and similar production processes. Lab are available in 3 basic sizes 65' x 10', 50' x 10', and 35' x 10'.  All labs come equipped with required testing equipment, set up and delivered ready to go.

Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA) -

is a three wheel multi-functional Loaded Wheel Tester (LWT) used for evaluating permanent deformation (rutting), fatigue cracking and moisture susceptibility of both hot and cold asphalt mixes.  The APA meets all provisions for AASHTO T324-14 Hamburg Wheel Tracking Test and AASHTO T340-10 APA Rut Test. The APA has an on-board frequency drive that allows a user to test mixes at multiple speeds and multiple rates of loading and a "High Pressure Feature" that allows a user to perform rut testing at high contact pressures for mixes that are used on airport runways/taxiways. The APA can also be outfitted with a Chiller that will allow a user to perform Low Temperature Fatigue Testing on Beam Specimens and Low Temperature Studded Wheel Testing on Cylindrical Specimens . The APA can also be outfitted to Perform Microsurfacing/Slurry Seal Testing. Solid rubber wheel and pneumatic wheels can be used with the APA.

Drying Oven

The Dryer accepts a sample (40# max.) from the belt sampler. The Dryer is electrically heated and continuously weighs the sample during the drying process. The drying time is typically 30-40 minutes, depending upon the moisture content of the material.

Asphalt Real Time Quality Control

The RTQC system for asphalt plants utilizes an RTSD, which captures a representative sample of asphalt from a haul vehicle and deposits the sample into the Field Ignition Oven (FIO). The FIO weights the sample, burns the asphalt off the sample, re-weighs the sample, and produces an asphalt content test report.

Aggregate Real Time Quality Control

Real-Time Quality Control for Aggregate Plants” Pavement Technology Inc. (PTI) has recently developed an aggregate quality control system, which utilizes an Automatic Belt Sampler (ABS) and an Automated Gradation Unit (AGU). These two units work in tandem to give on-thespot- analysis of crushed aggregate. Typically they are located downstream from a secondary crusher.
